DERBYSHIRE TEACHERS TO TAKE STRIKE ACTION
Members of the NASUWT, the largest teachers’ union, will hold the first of five days of strike action tomorrow (25 March) at Glossopdale Community College in Glossop, Derbyshire, as a result of the College’s failure to adhere to operate appropriate procedures for teachers’ appraisal.
Chris Keates, General Secretary of the NASUWT, said:
“The dedicated and committed teachers at Glossopdale regret that they have been left with no alternative but to take strike action.
“Despite every effort being made to secure an agreed way forward through negotiation, the College refuses to honour the agreement on appraisal.
“These strikes can be avoided if the College adopts a reasonable approach to this difficult situation.”
Keith Muncey, NASUWT National Executive Member for Derbyshire, said:
“We have always sought to resolve this by negotiation and we will continue to make every effort to find a resolution to this dispute so that further strike action can be avoided.”
